Do not read her Book “Just in case”

It turns out Suzanne Mubarak was preparing to publish a book this year but what you know , God is merciful !! The former first lady wrote a book called “Read me a  book : The story of Egypt’s first lady and her grandson” that the AUC press was going to publish supposedly this fall.
That book was supposedly to be a semi-biography of Suzanne Mubarak and her late grandson , she would speak how she used to read to him books and how that developed his personality.The AUC press decided to delay indefinitely the publication of that book by the request of Suzanne Mubarak herself despite it seems that foreign publishers are interested in her book.
Interesting enough the book's entry in Amazon.com is there and it dated back to March 2011
I think that book was just another pathetic attempt to win popularity in the Egyptian society using late Mohamed's name and also to revive her "Reading for all"

To be fair the “Reading for all project was great but only for those were capable to read and to buy books in Egypt. I will not deny that I read too many books because of this project including masterpieces but again I am from a lucky class. There are millions of Egyptians who live under the poverty line , who can’t read or write nor they can afford a glass of milk or even have access to clean water. Children used to die in Abu El-Rish children hospital in front of their parents who could not buy medicine while millions were spent on that project and God knows how corruption was there !!
Again history will mention “Reading for all” project as one of the only cultural achievements in the Mubarak era. Needless to say now millions of Egyptians got books with her pictures reminding us with her first lady’s cult besides her husband’s presidential cult.
You must know that I am trying to feel sympathy with her because of her grandchild’s loss but for reason I just can’t unlike Alaa Mubarak or Heidi or even Hosni Mubarak himself. May be because I always considered her a cold woman pretending to be important living in ivory tower. This is a personal side note.
Another thing : Why did she write a book in English and not in Arabic !?
Despite she was set free after giving her assets to the state , Suzanne Thabet is still facing corruption charges currently.
I am sure that Suzanne may work on her memories soon if she is not working right now , after all many Egyptians believe that Suzanne Mubarak was jealous from Jihan Sadat's popularity in the West. Former first lady Jihan Sadat wrote two books "A woman of Egypt" and " My hope for peace". Last year the Egyptian historians and literature followers were surprised and thrilled to find the memories of late former Tahia Abdel Nasser. Dr. Huda Abdel Nasser gathered her mother's memories and decided to publish them. Of course Mrs. Nasser's memories are quite interesting because they gave us a glimpse to the private life of Nasser for the first time.
Suzanne Thabet used to introduce the books of Zahi Hawass like Egyptian treasures from Egyptian museum ,Silent Images : Women in Pharaonic Egypt,  The treasures of the pyramids and Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the pharaohs 
Suzanne Thabet and Zahi Hawass are currently facing allegation of trading in our ancient artifacts by the way.
I found a book by Suzanne Thabet called "Peace , development and women in Egypt" and there is no info about it. It seems that it is a book she issued while heading this fake organization for peace.

Khaled Said Follow Up : This could be good

Today was supposedly the last day in Khaled Said’s trial , today was supposedly the sentence hearing but unsurprisingly it is adjourned to next 24 September 2011.

Officially it is adjourned to September 2011 because the court has ordered a new autopsy report instead of the old based on Sabai’s shameless report by the request of Khaled’s attorney. A new committee made of professors from Cairo university and Ain Shams university will put the new autopsy report. Also the charges will be changed according to evidence that are inconsistent with old case. You must bear in mind according to the current charges the two agents are facing their maximum penalty will be 3 years in jail while if the new autopsy report proved that he was beaten to death then those two agents will face first degree murder and death penalty as maximum penalty.

It will in next September because the judges have their summer vacation in Egypt in the month of August , the cases are adjourned according to vacancies in the cases roll or what ever it is called in English.

Needless to see people are extremely angry for this adjournment especially it is not the first adjournment in an important trial lately , also it comes in less than 72 hours after Tahrir clashes and the return of sit in. I believe this is a lot of time in a very cortical timing. Many believe that this is a political move and that the police agents were going to be acquitted but what happened so far this week made whoever runs the show to rethink the charges.

Many of the activists who waited for the sentence outside the court house actually came from Cairo , from Tahrir angry enough to feel furious.

My personal view that this is not a bad thing because again the maximum penalty these two police agents were facing according to the old report was 3 years only. I am sure if the sentence was 3 years only , the activists will be madder . I understand their frustration though considering what we have been though but we have to think with our minds.

The question now is how that the upcoming autopsy committee will check the body of late Khaled after a whole year. Of course now I remember that the family of Khaled Said had an autopsy report prepared by famous British Dr. John Clark and that it was not documented officially by the Egyptian embassy last year. We need this report now.

This is the 9th adjournment in this important case and honestly I do not mind it to be adjourned if Khaled Said’s full rights will be restored based on justice and not based on public’s opinion. Insh Allah Khaled Said’s rights will be restored by justice.

Day of Rage : What we Should focus on now

This video compilation for clips from the Friday of Wrath January 28th in Egypt is more that great  , seriously great. I recommend that you watch it till the end. Now If you compare between these clips and the clips from June 28th and June 29th strangely you will find very few differences !! The CSF are still the same and the police officers are still the same despite all what happened in these 5 months.

I will not speak about politics and current issues nor about SCAF and the revolution , I will focus on the ministry of interior. We will not have a real stability in the country , we will have a real peace of mind to rebuild our country again , we will not have a real revolution in Egypt as long as the ministry of interior and the police force are living in the illusion of Mubarak’s era.


After 30 years of rule as pharaoh’s faithful police force , that police force will return to be the in the people’s service. According to many sources Mansour Eissawy is a good man but he is surrounded by bad men and a mindset that needs to be destroyed today before tomorrow.

Our police force is already mentality sick and this is obvious with their violence and hate reflected in their treatment to the citizens. You are in front of sick person when you find an officer treating a citizen from lower class in an inhuman way because he is an officer with authority and power. You are in front of  sick person when you find a State security officer torturing some Islamist young man who does not ignore one single prayer in the day. That CSF solider dancing rudely with sword last June 29th is a sick person , that officer that kicked a woman , a martyr's mother in her stomach at Agouza police station is sick person

This will not change in a day or night , this will not change easily in 5 months when it was built and enforced for 30 years.

I think our main focus in this period from our revolution should be on our battle with the old ministry of interior. It is not about revenge , we have not set and will not set guillotines at Tahrir square , all what we want is justice.

Our politicians , parties and potential political candidates should put aside all their debates , their agendas and their races and focus on the following demands if they want to win the public :

  • Immediate suspension to all the officers accused of killing protesters and torturing civilians
  • Public trials on air for these officers , it is not about transparency more about to set a record for other police officers.
  • Financial inspection to the big police generals especially state security officers.
  • Changing the bloody courses they are teaching in the police academy.

I think I have tackled this issue before and many others  did but it is not enough. Before we speak about constitution first or elections first , we should clean the ministry of interior first.

Nawara Negm was right when she said on Al Jazeera Mubshar yesterday , SCAF has to choose between the ministry of interior and the Egyptian people.

#Jun 28th Follow Up : Day oF Rage indeed "Graphic"

  • The ministry of health stated officially that only 72 were injured in the events including 34 CSF soldiers. Of course unofficially people are speaking about bigger number , about 200 in different hospitals. Updated : According to MOH's official statement : 590 were injured in the clashes, 75 of them are still in the hospitals !! Some sources are speaking about more than 600. Update @4:02PM The number increased to 1096 already !!Not less than 15 ambulance at KFC Tahrir are transferring the injured . The injured are also being transported on motorcycles. Medical supplies are required in the field hospital. The Omar Makram Sheikh has opened the mosque as a field hospital and asked people reportedly to have a sit in.

According to this lady at Maspero from the martyrs' families , thugs pretended to be from the families of Martyrs and went to Balloon theater and clashed with the police then they returned back to Maspero telling the families of the martyrs that martyrs' mothers were arrested and taken to the MOI HQ at Tahrir square.

There is news that Major General Etman will attend the game as well. Update : The ministry of interior has denied the news officially on ON TV from short while ago.

The officers restrained themselves indeed !!?
  • The best statement published by a potential presidential candidate was the statement of Dr. Abdel Manam Abu El Fatouh where he demanded the resignation of Eissawy and purifying the ministry of interior from Mubarak's era traces. The statement was more than a great and balanced. Abu El Fatouh wins a lot of points with it without a doubt.

    Tahrir Flotilla : Israel’s girl gay in Damascus !!

    And Flotilla 2 is ready for another round , for another battle in the sea in the war to break the illegal blockade on Gaza. This year things are quite different because we got Arab spring effect , we got angry Turks , we got warnings from the West as if the blockade in Gaza is not a crime against humanity , we got the memories of Flotilla 1 and we got Israel launching warning and ready for battle in every possible way.

    I am so interested in knowing what Egypt’s official reaction will be , it will mean a lot. I hope that there are Egyptian activists in the flotilla this year. Anyhow the Egyptian revolution is there , even in symbolic way. Canadian activists have already called their ship : Tahrir flotilla.
    You know I like the name of the Canadian ship and I will call flotilla 2 as Tahrir flotilla.

    Tahrir clashes : Back to sleepless nights

    So we were glad that we will not have these sleepless nights of clashes between protesters and security forces or these ugly sectarian clashes but what you know , some people in dark place think we do not deserve anything except Mubarak’s rule !!
    There are currently clashes taking place in Tahrir square again between hundreds of protesters and the security forces. There are injured , there are tear gases grenades , there are CSF again and attempts from the protesters to control the square again. There are chants against SCAF now. There are rubber bullets , bullets in the air and the electricity is cut from certain areas in the square.
    There was something strange already as there were clashes at Agouza in Giza this afternoon at Balloon theatre. I think you should read Hossam Arabawy’s post along with Gigi Ibrahim’s testimony there.

    Activists are planning for a big million man protest and a sit in at Tahrir square next 8th of July 2011. It seems that we are heading to Tahrir square again after all. It is our only way to make clear that we were not fooling around in those 18 days.

    And this is Why Martyrs and wounded are first !!

    It has to mean something ,seriously when I speak with the wounded and the families and in less than 24 hours and I found out that one of the revolution’s wounded became an official revolution’s martyr after 5 months of treatment in Kasr Al Aini hospital today !!
    This new revolution’s martyr is 24 years old Mahmoud Kotb who had been in the French Kasr Al Aini hospital for 5 months , I will repeat it again he died after 5 months.
    According to the activists late Kotb was the young man who was hit by that diplomatic white van on January 28th while Al Ahram portal claims that he was killed by the police force on February 28 !! The reporter in Al Ahram portal described the revolution day as the events of February 28th known as "Friday of wrath” !! Excuse my French !! events !! February 28th !!? Does anyone revise this before it goes online !!?
    Anyhow Kotb died today after 5 months of being of that diplomatic van stolen from the American embassy on January 28th. Here is the video if you do not remember it.

    Mahmoud’s funeral was honorable and huge . Not less than 2,000 participated in the funeral of 24 years old Mahmoud that was held at Tahrir square. All people were crying especially when the funeral passed in the same street he was killed at. He was only hit by the car but he was also beaten by CSF soldiers as well.
    The hospital did not let the body except after the people started to protest !! oh yes they told Mahmoud’s family that they had two choices : either to give up his legal rights as a victim or he would undergo an autopsy !!! After a small protest and the media began to head to the hospital , they released the body. Sheikh Safwat Hegazy washed it while he was crying !!

    For 5 months now we do not know yet who hit 24 years old Kotb despite the security forces can reach out to the one who did it very easily. I heard two stories , one says that Habib El Adly was in the van while the other says that El-Shaer was in the van. Both men are criminals already.
    We will not forget nor forgive our rights , our martyrs’ rights , insh Allah we will not.

    The Martyrs First

    This clip always pumps in my hand when I hear someone claiming that the police forces were only defending themselves and did not shot the protesters but they only shot the thugs who were attacking them. “Oh yes there are people in the media claiming so”

    This video makes me shiver , makes me angry and wonder why we have not heard anything about that police officer or solider or that CSF soldier that killed an unarmed civilian protester who showed him that he did not carry any weapon from any kind.
    This video is a smoking gun evidence and we can easily find the mother and daughter filming and commenting on that horrible crime they just witnessed.
    Now Facebook groups and twitter accounts are currently sharing a photo for a protester that was killed in Alexandria. That victim is believed to be the protester shot down by the security forces in the video.



    I do not know if it is him or not but either ways both of them need justice , real justice. Muabrak was the head of the supreme council of police thus he is responsible directly. The wounded and the families of the martyrs want to include Hosni Mubarak to the shooting of the protesters case. It is their first demand in their current sit in in front of the ERTVU , it is their first and most important demand.
    Today the killing of protesters case was adjourned to July 25th as the judge is going to be changed. “Judge Abdel Salam Gomaa got a very bad record already”
    Nevertheless the wounded and the martyrs’ families were extremely angry at the new Cairo court house and attacked the security forces that were there hurling their vehicles and the prison vehicle transporting the infamous minister of interior. “People wondered if anyone saw him already in the prison cage but according to one of the victims’ lawyer claimed to see all the accused behind bars.”
    Things were not good in Maspero as people went furious after knowing the news through mobile phones , their numbers were not big but their anger was huge, real huge.

    Today I went to cover the protest and I found angry people who want justice before anything. They had very reasonable demands considering the fact that they have been waiting for justice for complete 5 months.
    The demands are as follows :
    1. To include Mubarak to the shooting of the protesters’ case.
    2. An independent court assigned to this case only to get much faster verdicts. It has been 5 months so far.
    3. Detaining all the officers and police agents accused of killing the protesters temporarily so they won’t affect “blackmail” the eye witnesses. Almost all officers and police agents accused of killing the protesters are still working in the police force and some of them even are promoted.
    4. To include the following names in the case : Former PM Ahmed Nazif , minister of information Anas El-Fiky “for constant lies” , minister of telecommunication Tarek Kamel “ Internet blockage” and minister of health Hatem El-Gabli. “For shutting down the emergency network between hospitals”
    5. Transferring the trial on air on the national TV, it will ensure transparency and it will be good for the economy as well.
    6. Helping the wounded of the revolution financially as they lost their jobs and treating them on the state’s expense.
    Only the 6th demand was met , the PM set the fund of revolution’s wounded and the martyrs’ families’ case last Saturday and it will start working next July 1st based on the decree of the PM. It was worth to mention that early this month the PM decided with the martyrs’ families committee to set this fund.
    Still it is not the money that the martyrs and wounded want first , they want justice , against justice. A martyr’s brother told me today that he came from Alexandria and that his father did not want any fund or pension. He just wants to see El Adly and Mubarak executed. That martyr’s name is Abdel Latif Mohamed Said.
    The spokesperson of the martyrs’ families coalition Mr. Mohamed Gomaa ‘translator’ told me that the martyrs’ families and wounded are not with the constitution first or the elections first , they are with the martyrs first. This summarizes everything.
    5 months are too much in case that is a crystal clear.
    P.S : I met a lady there whose son was prosecuted in front of a military court and is currently serving his jail sentence in Borg El Arab prison. The lady told me that her son was accused of thuggery while he was innocent. She said that the police sheriff in their area fabricated this charge against him and that the eye witnesses he brought stood with her son yet he was found guilty. For nearly a month she kept visiting the offices of PM and the minister of justice. Her son’s name is Mustafa Mohamed Hasham. I hope that I delivered her message.

    Death Match : Man Vs. Lion ; stupidity in its finest form !! “Updated”

    So apparently there is some young man , unbalanced young man who thinks that he can wrestle a lion and kill it in a gladiator style in order to promote tourism in Egypt !! Oh yes Egyptian body builder Sayid Essawy would wrestle a lion and could be merciful enough to leave him alive in the death match of the hour !!!

    Sayid got a lion from Mamdouh El Halw , the famous lion trainer from the circus family who believed that the lion would kill Sayid  !! “Then why he sold that lion to Sayid !? Already I do not understand how such animal can be sold and transferred in that way !?”

    It seems that Essawy wanted it be a huge public event at Mansoura stadium but thankfully the ministry of interior and the ministry of tourism refused to give him the permit. Still it did not stop him because now he is currently fighting the lion at some place , secret place between Mansoura and Damietta at some rice and wheat field !! I do not understand again why the MOI does not arrest this man or stop him !!

    Some TV channels and reporters ‘mostly foreigners’ are covering the matter. Do not even ask why some channels are covering such circus when you got the families of martyrs protesting in front of the TV building !? With all what we have in Egypt form news since the revolution and they are running behind this stupid circus show.

    The animal rights activists were and are very angry as this is just a case of animal cruelty . Egyptians are angry as well , this is so insulting on so many level.

    • According Wall street journal’s reporter Matt McBradley and tweep JHammond it was a hoax , there was not a real fight but instead Sayed kept jumping around a lion that did not sleep for days and was only fed before the big show a donkey after days of starving !!?
    • Sayid was holding a satellite dish like a shield and 8 pole, kept dancing and jumping around the lion than at the end he threw an Israeli flag on the poor lion !!! This is the just
    • Ok TV channels and reporters should not blame anyone except themselves for covering such fake event.
    • According to Nadia Montasser the police had to interfere in the end and stop the show. They wanted to confiscate the lion and to send it to the zoo but there is a big surprise , they can’t find the lion !!!? Why they do not ask its original owner Mamdoh El-Halw
    • Can I ask one question !? This waste of time would not have taken place today if the reporters did not run after Sayid Pasha !! Is there any sane person thought for one second that Sayid would kill the lion from the first round , it was vice versa for God sake !!

    I apologize to waste to your time but this was just too mad to be ignored. Of course since knowing about death match and nothing in my mind except this.

    Sue the British Ambassador Farid El Deeb !!

    So Farid El Deeb is claiming that former/ousted president Mubarak only owns LE 6 million in Egyptian local banks and that he does not have any bank accounts abroad in his name despite the official statements from UK and Switzerland.

    Now I dedicate this claim and this statement from the British ambassador in Cairo on TV that the British officials got initial information that Mubarak and his men may reach to £40 million in UK !!  Why does not El Deeb sue the British ambassador to Cairo !?

    El-Deeb last week claimed that Mubarak’s health was getting worse as he struggled the complication of stomach cancer and that he asks the SCAF to summon his German doctor Markus Buechler in order to check him. Officially Buechler has not been summoned yet.

    Of course I remember the report of the forensic experts assigned by the general prosecutor said that Mubarak did not suffer from cancer anymore.

    Last thing people are speaking now about the SOS letter sent from Alaa and Gamal Mubarak to the Sultan of Oman. This alleged letter is originally published at UPI.     Of course the SOS letter became online sensation with its Arabic translation. It made people more angry in Cairo, after all we were being called mob.

    Friday Protests in Egypt : Martyrs , dwellers , Chicken and Mubarak sons as well

    Today there were about 3 protests at Maspero , 1 protest at Tahrir , 1 protest at Syrian embassy , 1 protest at the Spanish embassy and 1  protest at Mustafa Mahmoud square in Giza and Cairo only as far as I know.
    The ERTVU building witnessed three different acts of protests :
    1. The activists’ solidarity stand with dwellers of Madinat El Salam city sit in.
    2. The protest of martyrs’ families that turned in to a sit in. The families of the martyrs demand a real trial for those who killed their children. Insh Allah I will write more about it tomorrow.
    3. The poultry sellers’ protesters who are protesting the old law issued during the H1N1 breakout banning the sale of live poultry. It is the first protest for them since the revolution. They came to Maspero with trucks full of empty cages in reference to poultry , they cut the way for some time and the CSF trucks came along with military police. They have arrested abut 18 poultry sellers for cutting the way as far as I know.
    At Tahrir square there was a protest as usual , the protest wanted judiciary to be cleaned from the Mubarak era traces.
    There was a protest in solidarity with the Syrian people at the Syrian embassy while there was another protest in front of the Spanish embassy demanding Spain to extradite Hussein Salem.
    Of course nobody paid attention to the circus de Mubarak’s children that was taking place at Mustafa Mahmoud square in Mohendessin except very late , really late at night when they decided to have an open sit in and to cut the way in the heart of Mohendessin.Mubarak’s children do not want only to honor their father but they want him back from Sharm El Sheikh !!?
    According to the news coming from there the Mubarak’s children are actually thugs are having fights with other people from the dwellers of Mohendessin as well as those who opposed them in opinion. The infamous “I am sorry President” Facebook page claims that there were 1000 Mubarak supporters at the square today !! There are reportedly fights with the military police and the police. Of course the admins of that provoking page claims that the thugs came from outer space and that the thugs attacked and injured some of the Mubarak supporters. They are accusing the “dirty” media of fabricating lies against them. Well I am afraid that I will take the side of media because eye witnesses told me things are not great in Mohendessin because of these hired supporters. I am sorry that I can’t be neutral in covering them.

    I do not know how the day will end at  Mustafa Mahmoud but I know that the people of Salam city and the families of martyrs are sleeping in the street for genuine rights.
