Ghada Is Our Carrie Bradshaw but 3ayza Atgawez Is not Our Sex and The City !!

Dear follow blogger Ghada Abdel Aal is being labeled Egypt’s Carrie Bradshaw or the veiled Carrie Bradshaw with the international success of her book that is based on her successful blog with the same name “Wanna be a bride
{Wanna be a bride} was transformed in to a TV series by the same “3ayza Atgawez” but it is not our version of Sex and the city if Ghada is our veiled Carrie who is looking for Mr. Right , it is more of a sitcom starring Hend Sabri , directed by Ramy Emam and produced by Al Shorouk media production for the first time. You can watch the trailer below.

Hend Sabri is excellent actress but she did not excel it this time , she disappointed us with her overreactions along with the overreactions of the rest of the cast. I do not know if it is the mistake of the director or the mistake of the script which is written by Ghada herself as I read “I hope I am wrong”. Not every good cinema director can be a good sitcom director and vice versa, Ramy Emam missed it this time.
There are scenes in the series that you can feel that the actors are presenting fake comedy that they themselves are not convinced with , for example : the clash between her mother and grandmother is so old fashioned and unneeded , it does not create a comedy and this is just the tip of ice berg. Sawsan Badr and Hend Sabri can present better than this. Tarek El-Ebairy has a good potential for comedy.
Still to be honest there are certain very few episodes that I found it really funny above them the episode of Ahmed Sakka as a police officer , I can’t keep myself from watching it over and over. Sakka should give himself a break from his action films for awhile and return back to light comedy. You can watch the whole episode below. It is worth to mention that this is the general perception of Police officers nowadays in Egypt , families think twice when they find a police officer asking their daughter’s hand in marriage. The rest of episodes I like is the episode of Ahmed Rizk and the episode of Nadal El-Shafai.
Ep.10 The wife of an important officer
Another thing I do not like about this series is that it could give a bad image about Egyptian girls in the Arab world as dying to find a groom , do not get me wrong but in certain areas in the Arab world Egyptian films and TV series give wrong impressions about Egyptian women , some people do not separate between fiction and reality. Some critics say that the TV series present situations that do not exist in our society like for instance running in the club’s track to catch a groom but I disagree with them , it is a comedy for God sake !!
By the way Ghada’s best selling book in Arabic is now available in English and in Amazon too , I highly recommend it. The success of Ghada is something I think all Egyptian bloggers especially the Laila bloggers are proud of.
You can read the Wanna be a bride TV series episodes summary here in Al Shorouk newspaper.
Hend Sabry is from the very few Arab actors who tweet by the way so if you want to tell her your opinion , you can do it on twitter as she is following the reactions herself.
I give 3ayza Atgawez 2.5 from 5
