Judge and thinker Tarek El-Bishry spoke about the liberal era in Egypt in an old interview with Ahmed El- Muslamany. It is a must see interview , it is not about historical information we do not know about Egypt's short liberal political life but it is also a good lesson for us if we are going to speak about democracy ,about real partisan life and more important a real political life in this country.
Watch the interview on 3 parts below 'thanks to dear Tafatefo'
These three hours are a treasure , it is like a strong dosage of Egyptian political history. I like his views about Saad Pasha , indeed he was a rich personality , I like how he showed that from 1919 to 1953 there was no separation between democracy and independence , how he described us the origin of the famous slogan during the British occupation “The full independence or death”.
One of the things I would like you to watch is how the Palestinian issue became an Egyptian starting from year 1936 ; the neoliberals in Egypt say that we should not give a damn to Palestine and that was an Pan Arab Islamic ideas that stand against our progress but clearly that they ignored that PM Mustafa El-Nahas of Al Wafd , the Egyptian liberal nationalist leader was the first to announce his huge concern and rejection to what is happening at our borders at the North East !!!
History repeats itself and despite having the longest recorded history in the world , we do not learn from our history and we keep repeating doing our mistakes.
May God bless Judge El-Bishry.
