You must excuse me but it is natural to have a lot of rumors nowadays and some of these rumors can be actually true whether fully or partially.
According to an email circulating Some Kuwaiti newspaper claims that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries have threatened the AFC to pull their investments from the country and get rid from Egyptian expats in GCC if Hosni Mubarak or any member of his family was prosecuted !?
I did not find the news itself at El-Dar Kuwaiti newspaper The El-Dar newspaper says that the GCC can't forget how Mubarak sent the Egyptian army to fight the Iraqis in the Gulf War 2 !! Well actually those who fought were the Egyptian people not Mubarak !!
The newspaper goes far and says that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia said that it was disgraceful to attack Mubarak !!
Alaa Al Aswany also wrote about this in his column in Al Masry Al Youm making many Egyptians furious as they felt that they are under direct attack , their rights and freedom are under attack as some have told me.
I met people in the past 24 hours believed that dangerous accusation and believe the AFC should be honest with the Egyptian people and tell them what is really going on. If the GCC blackmails us then we should know. All the people agreed on the following : We want to prosecute the Mubaraks even if it costs us the GCC investments and our expats.
In the first place I do not understand why the Gulf countries stand with the Mubaraks when they are accused of stealing our money including the aids the GCC countries used to give to the Egyptian people. The employees of the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis say that once Sheikha Fatimah , the widow of Sheikh Zeyad stayed there for a month and decided to reward the employees and workers there for their hospitality. She left for them a huge sum of money , a 6 numbers sum in dollars and all what the employees and workers got was LE50 bonus !! The employees and workers of presidential palaces reveal every week in the media how cheap Hosni and Suzanne Mubarak used to be.
I hope that this is untrue because this is not what we expect from our Arab brothers and allies. There is no doubt that the delay in prosecuting Mubarak and restoring back his family's billions abroad are enforcing the rumor. The Mubaraks' bank accounts are said to be transferred from Europe to Saudi Arabia and UAE to be specific. The AFC and Egyptian Cabinet should officially ask the the GCC for any Mubarak's bank account there in public to put an end for these speculations.
I think that the delay is actually a deal between Mubarak and the AFC's generals in return of stepping down , it is not the GCC but rather the AFC , of course this is my own assumption.
